Sonauli, Maharajganj: A long-closed divider cut in Sonauli town, located along the India-Nepal border, was finally reopened on Monday. The divider was removed with the help of a JCB machine in the presence of departmental officials, bringing significant relief to local traders, commuters and residents.
The closure of the divider cut had been causing considerable inconvenience to people travelling through the town. Local residents and traders were forced to take longer routes, resulting in additional travel time and fuel expenses. Traders also claimed that the closure was adversely affecting business activities in the market.
The issue was consistently raised by Bablu Singh, President of the Sonauli Udyog Vyapar Pratinidhi Mandal, and Baiju Yadav, former candidate for Nagar Panchayat Chairman. They held several discussions with the administration and concerned departmental officials and submitted memorandums seeking restoration of the divider cut.
Their continued efforts finally yielded results on Monday when the concerned department removed the divider with a JCB machine and reopened the cut for traffic. The move has made movement through the market considerably easier.
Traders and local residents welcomed the decision and appreciated the efforts of Bablu Singh and Baiju Yadav. They said reopening the divider cut would improve customer movement in the market and provide a boost to local business activities.
Bablu Singh and Baiju Yadav said that reopening the divider cut was not merely a demand of traders but an important requirement for the entire Sonauli town. They added that the decision would also benefit people travelling between India and Nepal.
They expressed gratitude to the administration and concerned departments for addressing the issue and said they would continue to raise public-interest issues and work towards their resolution.
With the divider cut now reopened, traders and residents hope that traffic movement in Sonauli market will become smoother and business activities, which had been affected by the closure, will regain momentum.
