Kathmandu, Nepal: In a major safety measure during the monsoon season, the Nepalese administration has officially imposed a night-time vehicle movement ban on the Gulmi section of the Kali Gandaki Corridor due to continuous landslides and falling rocks.
According to an official notice issued by Gulmi Chief District Officer Badrinath Gaire, all types of vehicles will be prohibited from operating on the affected stretch from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM every day until further notice.
The decision was taken by the District Security Committee following an increase in landslides triggered by heavy monsoon rains. The restriction applies to the road section extending from Harmichaur (Mirmi Junction) in Kaligandaki Rural Municipality–1 to Dhus, located on the Gulmi–Baglung border.
Authorities have also advised travelers to remain extremely cautious even during daytime travel, as landslides and rockfalls may occur without warning. In case of emergencies, the public has been asked to contact Disaster Rescue Hotline 1449, Nepal Police (100), Armed Police Force (1114), or the nearest police station.
The Nepal government has urged citizens to follow official travel advisories and weather updates while traveling through hilly and landslide-prone areas during the ongoing monsoon season. Officials have indicated that similar restrictions may be imposed on other vulnerable mountain roads if weather conditions worsen.
