Peace Walk in Lumbini promotes India-Nepal friendship and tourist safety, while alleged anti-Indian social media remarks fuel controversy

Nepal Seeks Indian Tourists, But Offensive Remarks Spark Concerns

Lumbini, Nepal: While Nepal continues efforts to attract Indian tourists and strengthen cross-border tourism, a controversy has emerged after a Nepali youth allegedly made offensive remarks against the Indian community on social media, triggering criticism and debate.

Meanwhile, during a Peace Walk and Public Awareness Program organized by Nepal Police in Lumbini, discussions focused on India-Nepal friendship, social harmony, and the safety of Indian visitors. Participants emphasized the centuries-old cultural and religious ties between the two nations and called for mutual respect and goodwill.

During the event, Nepal Police Inspector General Dan Bahadur Karki highlighted the importance of tourist security, community policing, and stronger people-to-people relations.

However, the alleged anti-Indian comments have raised questions about how such incidents align with Nepal’s efforts to welcome Indian tourists and promote bilateral friendship.
