Sonauli/Nautanwa, Maharajganj:
Fresh allegations have surfaced regarding land transactions in the Sonauli and Nautanwa areas of Maharajganj district, where an alleged land mafia network is reportedly using “settlement” arrangements and legal documentation as tools to influence property deals.
According to local sources, an organized group is allegedly taking control of large-scale land transactions by acting as an intermediary between buyers and sellers. The group is accused of identifying prospective buyers, negotiating deals, and attempting to influence both parties during the transaction process.
Sources further claim that a well-known and controversial individual, previously associated with several disputes in the Sonauli police station area, has now shifted his residence to the Nautanwa police station jurisdiction. Allegations suggest that he is using the clean public image of his advocate son to pressure buyers and sellers into getting legal documentation, registration, and other property-related formalities handled through him.
Local residents also allege that if either party wishes to appoint a lawyer or document writer of their own choice, pressure is sometimes exerted to use the network’s preferred legal channel instead. These allegations have raised concerns about transparency and the freedom of parties involved in land transactions.
Residents have urged the district administration to conduct an impartial inquiry into the matter and take strict action if any coercion, intimidation, or unlawful interference in property transactions is found.
