Sonauli/Bhairahawa:
The Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Nepal’s Armed Police Force (APF), Dahal, has issued strict directives to strengthen security along the Nepal–India border in an effort to curb smuggling, illegal import-export activities, customs evasion, and revenue leakage.
According to the directives, all Border Out Posts (BOPs), Forward Posts, and APF border units have been instructed to maintain 24-hour surveillance and remain on high alert. The AIG emphasized that no negligence in border security will be tolerated.
Security personnel have also been ordered to take immediate action against any suspicious activities, illegal cross-border trade, and other criminal operations. Commanders have been directed to ensure effective coordination and strict enforcement of security measures across all border checkpoints.
The APF reiterated its commitment to the motto “Secure Borders, Prosperous Nation,” highlighting its focus on preventing smuggling, enforcing the law, ensuring round-the-clock monitoring, and safeguarding national revenue.
The new directives are expected to further tighten security along key border points, including the Sonauli–Bhairahawa international border, with the aim of effectively curbing cross-border smuggling and other illegal activities.
