Major Action in Pond Beautification Gate Collapse Case: FIR Against Village Head, Secretary and Consulting Engineer Suspended

Nautanwa, Maharajganj:
The district administration has taken strict action following the tragic death of a minor child in the collapse of an entrance gate constructed under a pond beautification project in Shesh Pharenda village of Nautanwa Development Block. On the instructions of District Magistrate Gaurav Singh Sogarwal, an FIR has been ordered against the village head (Gram Pradhan), while the Gram Panchayat Secretary and the concerned Consulting Engineer have been suspended with immediate effect.

The incident occurred on Saturday when the newly constructed entrance gate at the pond suddenly collapsed. A young child was trapped under the debris and was rushed to a nearby hospital by family members, where doctors declared the child dead. The tragic incident has left the entire village in grief and anger.

Taking serious note of the incident, District Magistrate Gaurav Singh Sogarwal ordered an immediate inquiry. Prima facie negligence was found, prompting the administration to initiate strict action against those held responsible.

Accordingly, directions have been issued to register an FIR against the Gram Pradhan, while the Gram Panchayat Secretary and the Consulting Engineer have been suspended pending further investigation.

The police have launched an investigation into the case. The district administration has stated that if the inquiry reveals negligence on the part of any other official, employee, contractor, or executing agency, appropriate legal and departmental action will also be taken in accordance with the law.

The incident has raised serious concerns among local residents regarding the quality of public construction works, with villagers demanding stringent action against those responsible and stronger safety measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
