Allegations of Immoral Activities Under the Guise of Spa Centers in Bhairahawa; Former Parliamentary Candidate Vishal Gupta Raises Concern

Bhairahawa, Nepal: Former parliamentary candidate Vishal Gupta has expressed serious concern over alleged immoral activities reportedly being carried out under the guise of spa centers in the sacred city of Bhairahawa, known worldwide as the land of Lord Buddha. He stated that complaints have been continuously emerging regarding the operation of prostitution activities in the name of spa services at several locations from Devkota Chowk to the Bus Park area, leading to growing resentment among local residents.
Speaking exclusively with the news team, Gupta said that such activities are having a negative impact on local families, women, young girls, and the overall social environment. He alleged that the area begins to feel unsafe after dusk, affecting the movement and comfort of families and ordinary citizens.
He further stated that these circumstances are fostering a harmful social mindset where the dignity and safety of women in public spaces are increasingly being questioned. In addition, incidents such as public drinking, disorderly behavior by intoxicated individuals, and littering in residential neighborhoods are adversely affecting the daily lives of local residents.
Vishal Gupta emphasized that the identity of Bhairahawa—a city associated with Lord Buddha’s message of peace, culture, and humanity—must not be tarnished under any circumstances. He urged the concerned administrative and security agencies to conduct an impartial investigation into the spa centers and take strict legal action against anyone found involved in unlawful activities.
He further stressed that no individual or establishment should receive protection due to influence, connections, or financial interests. For the welfare of society and future generations, he said, it is essential to develop Bhairahawa into a safe, civilized, and respectable city.
Appealing to citizens to fulfill their social responsibility, Gupta concluded by saying:
“When society is deteriorating, remaining silent is also a form of support.”
“Let us not allow the sacred land of Buddha to become a center of prostitution in the name of spa services. Instead, let us leave behind a safe, cultured, and respectable society for future generations.” — Vishal Gupta
